Archives, Restoration, Rights and Memory

Many African films have been difficult to see for decades. Prints were lost, damaged, scattered, stored outside the continent or preserved under fragile conditions. Restoration means locating the best available elements, cleaning, digitizing, repairing, restoring sound, creating subtitles, clarifying rights and enabling new circulation.
